OLED: The Perfect Blend of Past and Future

A Portable Lamp Inspired by Old Gas Lanterns

It is not uncommon to find ourselves stumbling in the dark when we wake up in the middle of the night. Opening the ceiling lights seems too harsh, and that's where the OLED portable lamp comes to the rescue. This compact lighting solution, inspired by the design of old gas lamps, is a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality.

The OLED portable lamp is divided into two parts. The bottom part serves as the base for energy and houses a rechargeable battery. The upper part, resembling a flashlight, can be detached and used as a portable light source. With its sleek design and ergonomic handle, it is easy to carry and provides the perfect amount of light for navigating through darkness.

The design of the OLED portable lamp is not only visually appealing but also practical. The base part features a light pipe that emits ambient light, creating a soothing atmosphere. The upper part, with its two lithium batteries, ensures long-lasting illumination, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

Manufactured using modern techniques, the OLED portable lamp is made of durable materials such as PP for the body and rubber for the handle. Its compact size, measuring 168 mm x 238 mm, makes it easy to place anywhere in your home or take it with you on your travels.

The concept for the OLED portable lamp was born out of the increasing demand for portable objects in today's fast-paced world. The designers, Muzaffer Kocer and Ayca Guven Kocer, recognized the need for a convenient lighting solution that combines the charm of the past with the efficiency of modern technology.

During the six-month design process in Istanbul, Turkey, the team faced the challenge of seamlessly merging the aesthetics of old gas lamps with the functionality of a portable lamp. The result is a design that not only meets the needs of users but also adds a touch of elegance to any space.

The OLED portable lamp has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2016, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category. This prestigious award is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of the designers, as well as their commitment to improving the quality of life through innovative design.
